MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION for Wellbeing

Learn clinically-proven methods for improving for low mood, stress & anxiety in nine x 2hr sessions. Based on the NICE-recommended 'Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy' training, this course is FREE for West London residents or anyone on an NHS waiting list. 15 Places. MBCT-qualified instructors.

The course is an interactive, online experience following the evidence-based Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) programme. It is suitable for those who wish to improve their general physical and mental wellbeing through the cultivation of mindful awareness.

During each weekly, two-hour, online session, you will practice exercises designed to increase your body and mind awareness and develop your capacities to detach from reactivity and unhelpful thinking habits such as worry, rumination and self-criticism.  If you are experiencing stress, anxiety, general dissatisfaction with life or low moods (but currently not in an active depressive episode), this course can offer you some tools to meet these everyday life challenges more skilfully. 

This course includes:

  • Meditation practices
  • Short talks
  • Discussion groups
  • Audio recordings for home use

You are eligible to attend this course if you:

  • You are over 18 years of age
  • Can commit to attending all 9 sessions of the programme
  • Can dedicate up to 45 minutes of daily home practice
  • Have access to the device, space and privacy to join via Zoom

We are pleased to offer this clinically evidenced program on a genuine Pay-What-You-Can basis. We ask for a minimum deposit of £20, which will be fully refunded upon completing 7 out of the 9 sessions. NB. This programme is price £200-300 elsewhere online.

Connie and Simon are trained trauma-informed Mindfulness teachers. They are not therapists or medically qualified professionals. This programme is unsuitable for people currently experiencing severe mental health issues or emotional disruptions. It's advisable not to enrol if you have experienced bereavement, trauma or significant life events in the past six months. Please read 'Is This Course Right For Me' before registering.

ABOUT THE THE TEACHERS

Connie Au-Yeung, MA, MBCT & Deeper Mindfulness Teacher

Connie is a British Hongkonger, passionate about bringing secular mindfulness practices to diverse and multicultural communities. With experience in language teaching, medical communication and science research, she has worked in London, Tokyo, Doha and Cairo, before settling in Devon and raising a bilingual family. Connie firmly believes in mindfulness's ability to cultivate a sense of belonging and enrich presence.

  • Masters Degrees in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Leicester) and Neuroscience and Developmental Biology (Cambridge).
  • Practitioner of Insight meditation since 2011, Insight Dialogue, pilates and Qigong.
  • Teacher Training undertaken at The Mindfulness Network, Sussex Mindfulness Centre and the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.

Simon Jones, FIOEE, MBCT Mindfulness Teacher

Simon began practising meditation over 20 years ago. However, in the last 5 years, he's undergone extensive training with organisations like the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation, Breathworks and Sussex Mindfulness Centre to become a mindfulness teacher. He's experienced the benefits firsthand and is passionate about sharing them with others, drawing on both ancient wisdom and modern neuroscience. 

  • Chartered Management Institute Mentor and Royal College of Psychiatrists-accredited instructor certified to deliver practitioner mental health training.
  • Qigong Practitioner and meditator for over 20 years.
  • Teacher Training undertaken at The Mindfulness Network, Sussex Mindfulness Centre, Mindfulness Self Compassion (MSC) and the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.
