Why learn about Mindfulness and Meditation?

Because research and experience tell us that this practice gives us immense benefits to our physical, psychological and emotional health. We develop the capacity to be calm, open and aware in the present moment, without judgement. This is an experiential training, practical, structured and a discovery of what works for you. There is our power...That's the plan!

What happens on the course?

I will share some key concepts, we will learn about meditation, we will do meditation, (even if you think you can't) and will learn and discover what works for us along the way. You will have home practices which is the best way to get the most from the course, so you do what you can between sessions, for which I will send you meditations and guidelines. All without pressure.

Mindfulness stems originally from Buddhist meditation practices that have been developed as non-religious, secular, evidence-based techniques shown to be effective in improving wellbeing and reducing stress, depression, and experience of pain and illness.

It is taught in a supportive and friendly group setting of up to twelve people. You will learn the foundation skills of mindfulness, compassion, and meditation, and how to apply them in your life in a way that really makes a difference.

Due to sponsorship from the Acton Gardens Community Chest, this programme is free to members of South Acton Children's Centre and the residents of Acton, London W3.

ABOUT VIBHA:

Hi, I'm Vibha, born and raised in London by my Indian parents.  After completing a degree in psychology and working in the field for a few years I travelled for a few more, training in Thai Yoga Massage in Thailand. This was also when I decided to move to the sea and am still congratulating myself 22 years on!

I continued training in Head Massage, Reflexology, and Holistic Massage. In order to support my relationship with my growing teenagers, I decided to train as a teacher of Mindfulness and Meditation after a 30 year on/off relationship with meditation.

Mindfulness offers us a route to wellness which we have the choice to access whenever we want.

I look forward to welcoming you to the programme.
