About the Event

The Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is the most recognised and established mindfulness course, taught throughout the world. 

Developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in the late 70s by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn, MBSR combines meditation, body awareness, mindful movement and the exploration of thoughts, feelings and emotions to help people cope better with stress, depression and anxiety. 

Via guided meditations, group discussions and home practice, you will learn the essential principles of mindfulness and a range of practical tools to help you access its wide ranging benefits

Course Format: 

The online course consists of 8, 2.5 hour sessions and an online half-day retreat. Approximately 45 minutes of home practice per day in between sessions is recommended during the course.

 

Dates: Tuesday 10th October 2023 until Tuesday 5th December 2023

Location: Online via Zoom

Time: 6.30pm - 9.00pm

Frequency: 8 weekly sessions and an online half day retreat on Saturday 25th November from 9.30am – 12.30pm

Cost: £200.00 GBP. Limited concession spaces available - please enquire upon registering.

 Course Overview: 

  • Session 1: Exploring Mindfulness How can we build mindfulness into our daily life.
  • Session 2: Perception  How we perceive the world and ourselves, influences our experiences.
  • Session 3: Being ‘at home’ in the body  The power of being in the present. Exploring pleasant experiences.
  • Session 4: What is stress ?  Learning our patterns of stress reactivity. Exploring unpleasant experiences.
  • Session 5: Working with stress Mindful responding versus reacting. Awareness of our conditioned automatic patterns.
  • Session 6: Mindful Communications  Stressful communications and our interpersonal habit patterns.
  • Session 7: Mindfulness and Compassion  Skilful choices - care for ourselves, others and the world around us.
  • Online Retreat Day: Guided half-day of mindfulness practices in a container of silence.
  • Session 8: Reflecting and Looking ForwardDeveloping a practice of your own. Keeping practice alive.
