Day of Practice, 10:00 - 16:00: on Saturday 13 July

This is an interactive, online mindfulness and meditation training, following the evidence-based Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy Curriculum. It is suitable for those who wish to improve their general physical and mental wellbeing through the cultivation of mindful awareness. 

Each two-hour online weekly session comprises exercises designed to increase body and mind awareness and develop capacities to detach from automatic reactivity and unhelpful thinking habits such as worry, rumination and self-criticism. 

This course includes:

  • Meditation practices
  • Short talks
  • Discussion groups
  • Links to audio recordings for home use

Accessing the Subsidies: The MBCT program typically costs £300 elsewhere online, we are pleased to offer the following subsidised tickets: 

  • HELPING PROFESSIONAL: heavily discounted fee for Counsellors & Psychotherapists. 
  • NHS STAFF: self-selected fee available for NHS Staff 
  • METANOIA: self-selected fee for trainees (plus refundable deposit)

Is this the right time for you to take this programme? Connie and Yasmin are trained trauma-informed Mindfulness teachers. They are not therapists or medically qualified professionals. This programme is unsuitable for people currently experiencing severe mental health issues or emotional disruptions. It's advisable not to enrol if you have experienced bereavement, trauma or significant life events in the past six months. Please read 'Is This Course Right For Me' before registering. 

THE FACILITATORS

Connie Au-Yeung, MA, MBCT & Deeper Mindfulness Teacher 

Connie is a British Hongkonger, passionate about bringing secular mindfulness practices to diverse and multicultural communities. With experience in language teaching, medical communication and science research, she has worked in London, Tokyo, Doha and Cairo, before settling in Devon and raising a bilingual family. Connie firmly believes in mindfulness's ability to cultivate a sense of belonging and enrich presence.

  • Masters Degrees in Applied Linguistics and TESOL (Leicester) and Neuroscience and Developmental Biology (Cambridge).
  • Practitioner of Insight meditation since 2011, Insight Dialogue, pilates and Qigong.
  • Teacher Training undertaken at The Mindfulness Network, Sussex Mindfulness Centre and the Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.

Yasmin Gunaratnam, MSc, PhD, Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher 

Yasmin is an academic who researches health, migration, loss and healing. Hailing from Sri Lanka, she brings over 25 years of experience in teaching and training across academic and non-profit sectors. Committed to inclusive mindfulness and tackling social injustices, Yasmin draws upon her research on health, migration and healing.

  • MSc Sociology with special reference to medicine (Royal Holloway).
  • PhD Social Policy and Administration (London School of Economics).
  • Interests in contemplative social justice, embodied pedagogies, mindfulness and neurodiversity and the effects of living with social injustice.
  • Teacher Training undertaken at The Mindfulness Network (Level One) and Oxford Mindfulness Foundation.
